Biography

Samuel Wilkinson, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and the Medical Director of the Yale Depression Research Program at the Yale School of Medicine. He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University. He completed his residency at Yale, where he joined the faculty following his postgraduate medical training.

Dr. Wilkinson’s interests include developing improved treatments to enhance mental health, primarily through clinical trials.

His research on depression and suicide prevention has received over $20 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and other organizations.

Dr. Wilkinson’s research and articles have been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal. He has received numerous awards, including Top Advancements & Breakthroughs from the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (2017 and 2020), recognition for Top Ten Psychiatry Papers by NEJM Journal Watch, the Early Career Scholar Award from the American Psychiatric Association, and the rank of Eagle Scout.
