Michael Pollan, also known as “the food guy”, wrote Omnivore’s Dilemma and the Botany of Desire. He teaches Writing at Harvard and Berkeley. Well, after all the food books, he came out with a new one, How to Change Your Mind: The New Science of Psychedelics.
Hi! Jim Phelps here for the Psychopharmacology Institute. Had I not been invited to review Pollan’s book for our local library, I don’t think I’d have read it. He’s like the food guy. But sure enough, his book did change my mind. I was introduced to the work of Robin Carhart-Harris at the Imperial College of London and others who have been rather quietly studying psilocybin for a variety of mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders.
