How many patients have you started on a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI)? For many of us, that’s likely to be a small number. In my residency 30 years ago, zero, and in the years thereafter, only a handful. And I’m a mood specialist of sorts; I probably didn’t turn to MAOIs often enough. Are you hesitant to use them? Why?

But let’s start with a bigger question: How often are MAOIs used nowadays? Is your use near the bottom of the frequency curve, as mine was, or the middle?
